Increase number of messages in Message History

Solution

In Policy Patrol 10 by default the Message History shows up to the last 5000 messages (select 'Show all'). You can increase the number of messages shown in Message History as follows:

  1. Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Red Earth Software\Policy Patrol Email\ (64-bit system) or  C:\Program Files\Red Earth Software\Policy Patrol Email\ (32-bit system).
  2. Open the file PolicyPatrol.Email.Common.dll.config in Notepad.
  3. Find the string:<setting name="MaxHistoryEntries" serializeAs="String"><value>5000</value>
  4. Change the number 5000 to the number of messages you would like to store.
  5. Save the file.
  6. Restart the Policy Patrol Email Server service.

Now Policy Patrol will log messages in the Message History up to the number you entered.

Note: Remember though that increasing the number of messages in the Message History will increase the size of the PolicyPatrolHistory.edb file. If this file gets too large, please reduce the number of messages in the Message History again.
